LAMBRIGG KESTREL

Kestrel has a very good day indeed and wins all 3 of his classes including the Novice Riding Horse.

10 APRIL 2010  TRAILBLAZERS FIRST ROUNDS.

LAMBRIGG PLAYGIRL. Another successful day out for Bunny. She wins in hand at Osbaldeston, and so along with Kestrel we now have 2 horses qualified for the second round of Trailblazers later in the year.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYBODY.

4TH APRIL 2010 - EASTER SUNDAY, BARTON EC.

LAMBRIGG PLAYGIRL ( Who is affectionately and, given the day, rather appropriately know as Bunny Rabbit at home ! ) by Dollar Boy ex August Plain Jane, makes her season debut in hand and collects two wins and one second place, and so qualifies for the UK Showing Riding Club Championships at Bold Heath.

FEB 2010 LAMBRIGG KESTREL QUALIFIES FOR TRAILBLAZERS SECOND ROUND.

Kestrel has kicked off both the 2010 season, and his ridden career in fine form. At only his second show under saddle he came second in the sporthorse class and has qualified for the second round.

DIAMOND OF LAMBRIGG RECEIVES HER BEF BROODMARE DIPLOMA.

Dec 2009 - Diamond now has a broodmare diploma from the BEF for producing a first premium winning offspring - namely her 2008 colt LAMBRIGG CAPPUCCINO.

PERSIA VS PASSES HER SHB (GB) GRADING.

2009 - Our event bred thoroughbred mare Persia is presented to Sport Horse Breeding and is graded into the stud book.

BEF FUTURITY.  LAMBRIGG CAPPUCCINO.  Myerscough 4th August 2009.

Yearling colt Cappuccino ( aka Bruce ), sired by Eclipse ex Diamond of Lambrigg, attended the BEF young horse evaluation in the eventing section, and we are delighted to report was awarded a FIRST PREMIUM and was also RESERVE CHAMPION with a score of 8.18.

Some of the judges comments :  “very laid back but with presence”   “bold and biddable”   “very light on his feet ” ( he scored a very impressive 18 for his athleticism / canter)

“ a really lovely youngster ”   “ has lots of potential ”

It is very exciting for us to see that a homebred colt sired by one of our own stallions can compete with young stock from big name eventing sires in the eyes of the BEF judges.

Thanks must go to my lovely friend Gabi Baxter, and her husband Neil for their help and hard work, all freely given along with a huge amount of support and encouragement.

SEARCH FOR A STAR. ADDINGTON MANOR 18TH JULY.

We are absolutely over the moon and bursting with pride to report that SPOTLIGHT and Katy have achieved what they set out to do, and qualified for HOYS in the riding club show horse. Spot is to be retired from showing at the end of this season, to start a new career in unaffiliated dressage, and pick up where he left off with unaffiliated show jumping…but what a way to bow out ! We’ve got our ringside tickets, and plan to enjoy the occasion to the full !

UK SHOWING RIDING CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS 11TH - 12TH JULY. BOLD HEATH.

Both SPOTLIGHT and KESTREL went to the championships having qualified earlier in the year, and both came home having been finalists in what were absolutely enormous classes.

we are very pleased with Kestrel as he is shaping up to be a lovely young horse on every score. He has now been turned away to enjoy the remainder of the summer at grass to absorb what he has learnt, and will be brought back into work at the beginning of winter, stepping into Spotlights shoes at the shows in 2010.

THE ROYAL SHOW 7TH JULY

SPOTLIGHT and KESTREL attend and both come home with second place in the ridden and youngstock classes respectively, an excellent result from Kestrel at this, only his second show.

PONIES (UK) WINTER CHAMPIONSHIPS  28TH - 30TH MARCH 2009.

Spotlight continues to give us all cause for celebration, and returns home having been in the ribbons at P(UK). We were already sufficiently proud that he had qualified for the championships, so this really is the icing on the cake.

NEW BROODMARE - TRESAISON HARRIET

Sire - intermediate eventer LJ PRINCE OF THIEVES ( by Dances with Wolves ).

Harriet is a welcome addition to our broodmare band and it is hoped she will produce event prospects for us in the future. She will be covered by Lambrigg Solaris in 2009.

Photo is of Harriet’s sire competing.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO FRIENDS AND CUSTOMERS ALIKE……… HERE’S TO 2009.

NEW BROODMARE - NOILLY’S SWIFT

Sire  CENTAUR JOLLY JACK, international 3 day eventer.

Swift joins us as a permanent resident, having previously been a visiting mare. She is in foal to Eclipse for 2009.

FESTIVAL OF CHAMPIONS, SCOTTISH NEC 18TH OCTOBER

SPOTLIGHT does us proud again with RESERVE CHAMPION NOVICE RIDING HORSE, and yet another ridden judge compliments his beautiful mouth.

DNA BASE COLOUR TESTING.

The DNA results have been coming back in, details will be added to individual horses in time. One very pleasant surprise is that Confetti has tested homozygous for black.

WESTMORLAND COUNTY SHOW 11 SEPT.

Competing against some of the country’s top professionally produced show horses, SPOTLIGHT is 5th out of 26 in the novice ridden, and so qualifies for the P(UK) WINTER CHAMPIONSHIPS.

We are obviously delighted with this, his best result of the season, and it is undeniably heartening to have proven that a pure bred Appaloosa really can hold his own in open showing at this high level, and in such elite company.

SCOTLAND IN COLOUR 7TH SEPTEMBER. FIFE.

LAMBRIGG SPOTLIGHT wins and goes on to become overall Champion, and so qualifies for the FESTIVAL OF CHAMPIONS at the SNEC at the end of October.

LAMBRIGG SOLARIS RETURNS HOME

We have a major cause for celebration this week as we are absolutely delighted to be able to announce the re-purchase of Solaris.
Sometimes you just know you have done the wrong thing, and we have regretted parting with this high quality colt pretty much from the moment that the sale was reluctantly agreed while he was still a foal at foot.
But now he is back, and his return to the stud means that our ongoing commitment to breeding topclass appaloosas with both competition ability and showring quality can be progressed to the next level.
Solaris ( aka Bruno, his original stable name ) will be given his own page in due course.

BAPS NATIONAL SHOW 2nd AUGUST 2008

LAMBRIGG CONFETTI

WINS 1ST PLACE IN THE YEARLING CLASS and is also placed 2nd in the potential riding horse class. She enjoyed a steady stream of admirers to her stable and several people expressed an interest in buying her, however I am a great believer in fate, and as we had already agreed a sale on Confetti when she was a foal, only to be subsequently let down by the buyer, we have resolved to keep her and eventually produce her under saddle.

LAMBRIGG  SPOTLIGHT

WINS 1ST PLACE IN THE NOVICE RIDDEN. Spotlight is a homebred gelding by Dollar Boy, and is actually Martin’s riding horse, more usually employed in jumping……but for this season he is being shown under saddle by our friend and neighbour Katy Bennet, who is aiming to qualify him for HOYS. The pair have already proved to be a winning partnership and this National win is their second in as many shows !

 LAMBRIGG SMARTIEPANTS

How lovely to hear of our foals going on to be successful competition horses. Smartie was the first foal from Diamond of Lambrigg, foaled in 1999, and just look at him now - partnered with his teenage rider Rosie Chinery ( for whom he was a twelfth birthday present as a 3yo ) he has hunted, has many BSJA wins, and is an eventer competing at NOVICE BE with 16 points. Smartie is now teamed with his second teenage rider and they have already achieved several double clears jumping. He is very much what we aim to breed, a genuine allround quality sports horse. Photo at Gatcombe 2007

LAMBRIGG CONFETTI

Confetti made her show ring debut at Leicester County Show on 5th May 2008 - talk about going in at the deep end ! Given that there was some discussion as to whether or not she should attend since she has been determinedly hanging on to her winter woollies, she came a respectable 4th in the young stock (3 years and under) class, and was reserve best yearling. Her behaviour was impeccable, and to say we are pleased with her is an understatement !

Another nice photograph of an Eclipse youngster, shown here as a yearling, this time from a visiting mare Noilly’s Swift owned by Alison Watt.  Swift will be visiting Eclipse again in 2008 so here’s hoping the resultant foal will be just as nice.

LAMBRIGG MYSTIQUE

( ECLIPSE X CLASSIC TANGO )

Owned by Tracey Milner and pictured here in 2007 with her first foal. Thank you for the excellent photo Tracey.

25 MARCH. NEW BROODMARE

August Chikara joins us as a future broodmare. She is a Grade C  fewspot appaloosa,  half sister to our own August Plain Jane and full sister to the licensed stallion August Skyhawk.

 LAMBRIGG VALENTINE

Owned by Gladys Jordan

Valentine is making us proud ! He only needs one more clear to qualify for novice 3 day eventing, he has won his last few pre-novice events and also won his last elementary dressage too.

 WELL DONE !

A new DNA base coat colour survey is being conducted this summer, sponsored by ApHCUK and Pet DNA Services of Arizona www.petdnaservicesaz.com and conducted by Lynn Harrison (UK) - Brushbow@aol.comor Tel: 023 8089 0236.

The DNA testing involves the pulling of mane and tail hair of each horse and foal and submitting to Lynn for onward travel to the laboratory in the States. Lynn has secured a great group price from the lab of £24.50 per horse for both A and E gene Series together (defining bay, brown, black and chestnut) – including the newly developed test for determining brown from bay which is not presently available from any other laboratory. Cr Cream testing and At Brown testing will also be available separately at a cost of £15.00 per horse per test for those who have already been tested for standard A & E previously. Non-survey prices are usually a minimum of £16 per test for each of A, At , Cr, and E.

Lynn’s previous survey in 2006 http://members.aol.com/Brushbow/src/AppSurveyWeb.doc gave some interesting results, and participating breeders were then able to predict foal base colours more precisely which is great if your preference is for a certain colour, or not.

Following this 2008 survey, Lynn will again write-up a report at the Survey’s conclusion. She will then be maintaining a database of individual results from both Surveys for the Club. Any owners who have had their horse/s tested privately are most welcome to send Lynn copies of their results to be added to the database.

To provide as much information as possible on coat colours of horses of appaloosa white spotting patterns, the following horses are invited to the 2008 Survey:

1. Any horse eligible for registration as a pure or part-bred with a recognised appaloosa or spotted horse/pony society. This includes horses with coat patterns, those with characteristics-only, and non-characteristics.

2. Any other accepted outcross breed used in an appaloosa or spotted horse/pony breeding programme.

Please contact Lynn with your name and address, and how many horses you would like to have tested so that she can post to you by return full details and sample kits. Offer closes 1st September 2008. Results take approximately three weeks, following which you will be notified of your results by email or post.
